Banning Sorry from the Vocabulary

(buy this awesome t-shirt HERE)

I spent the weekend at a writers conference for humor and human interest writing.  You could not have picked training more opposite than what the Air Force used to send me to.  Except for the love of cocktails - that seems to be universal at off site training sessions :-).
IT. WAS. SO. AWESOME.  And there is much to share and discuss.

While I let it all settle in my brain, I wanted to bring up a topic from one of our many roadtrip conversations.

WHY DO WOMEN ALWAYS APOLOGIZE?

Sorry for being late; Sorry for missing your event; Sorry for forgetting to get milk last night.

WHY?

Let's stop.  Save sorry for when it is really, really necessary.

Practice instead:
- I made it through the traffic, thanks for waiting, let's get started.
- I have a conflict and won't be able to make it at that time.
- There isn't milk, but here is money to walk down to 7-11 and get it.

True confession?  I backspace and erase "sorry" all the time.  It takes practice.

Good luck!
